Amanda is a country girl at heart and lives in Canberra. She met Kazz at her first high tea for HHH and loved the idea of rescuing the big heavies.

She got talking to Kazz and asked if she needed help with giving the horses a bit of TLC and grooming etc. She gave Kazz her number and that was that.

She is able to go and visit on the weekends and other days that she has off. Her first introductions were to Zen and Charlie they have since gone on to find great new homes.

She loves horses - and getting to hang out with them is just perfect for her – so when Kazz asked if she would like to join the HHH Committee she agreed straight away.

"Seeing the horses come in as downtrodden sad souls, not sure what is going to happen to them – then they get lots of  love and attention and care that they need – and  eventually they come out of their shells - you see the potential that was always there and know it was worth all the hard work."

My two boys and I have been involved with Heavy Horse Heaven for a number of years, and it’s become a big part of our lives. Through HHH we’ve been fortunate to welcome Captain, Ellie, Noah and Ruby into our family, and they’ve helped shape our passion for these incredible horses.

We live close to HHH headquarters where we enjoy spending time with our horses and continuing to learn about and promote the heavy horse breed. Outside of that, I work in the disability sector and am currently studying Equine Assisted Learning, with a focus on incorporating horses into wellbeing and personal growth.

I’m passionate about supporting the important work Heavy Horse Heaven does and helping ensure these magnificent horses continue to find safe, loving homes. I’m looking forward to working alongside the committee and contributing however I can.

Emily has loved horses all her life.

She attended Tocal Agricultural Collage and studied Equine Science at Charles Sturt University.

Emily Thoroughly enjoys working with horses and has a special affinity for the "damaged" personalities, hoping to encourage them back to good health and mind.

Em and her ever growing herd are based in Yass, NSW and she looks forward to helping current and future HHH Guests find their forever homes.

Vicki is a mum of one, nanny of four, who works full time in the Public Service. She can't really remember a time when she didn't have horses, she grew up with them around her, went through the pony club route, and spent many years successfully competing and showing mainly with Australian Stock Horses. She also competed in various events including jumping, sporting events and hack and rider classes. 

Her family has owned lots of different sizes and breeds of horses, including a couple of Clydesdales and a Shire, but she currently has just the one little pony for her grandchildren to ride.

She became involved with HHH because she believes in their vision, has a soft spot for heavy horses, and also because everyone involved with the organisation is in it for the right reasons.... the welfare of the horses.

I have always had a passion and love for horses, And was lucky to have had my first horse Prim through my teenage yrs.  I first heard about what Heavy Horse Heaven was and the wonderful work they do at a horse expo held at the Canberra National Museum about 11yrs ago.

In the last 10 yrs I have been lucky to have adopted two very special HHH girls Angel and Sahara. I have learned and seen so much since being involved with Heavy Horse Heaven, seeing the changes and new trusts being built with the horse, but also seeing and learning from the not so happy times that go along with the running of a horse welfare group and I will continue to learn new things. I also volunteer when I can and enjoy working with the horses and hanging out with other people.

I am happy to be a part of the HHH committee to be able to help and contribute where I can for Heavy Horse Heaven. 

I am a country girl at heart and have been a horse lover my entire life. I discovered Heavy Horse Heaven through a Canberra Times article after the horrible fires we had a few years ago. I have been volunteering here since then, coming out on the weekends. Being part of Heavy Horse Heaven has become an important part of my life.  I have been fortunate enough to have welcomed the beautiful HHH Macey into our family. 

I love volunteering here, as it’s such a welcoming place for the horses and the volunteers – it’s a real community.

I have learned so much over the past few years about heavy horses and horse rehabilitation. I’m passionate about animal welfare and the amazing work that Heavy Horse Heaven does to ensure all the equine guests receive the best care and find safe and loving homes. 

Every horse comes in for a different reason; they all have a story to tell. For some, their previous chapters weren’t the best and when you see the light come back on in their eyes – it’s so special and rewarding.
